French legislation allows foreign investors many different forms of business, which can be temporary or permanent, depending on the investor's strategy. Each form ensures specific obligations to tax legislation and to Companies Act.
Conducting of non-commercial activities

temporary forms:

Investor employs a representative in the local office (so-called »liaison«), who conducts non-commercial activities (marketing, warehousing, other help or preparation)
Conducting of commercial activities

permanent forms:

Office – Popular form for foreign investors, who are entering on the French market. Unit is liable for income tax and Value Added Tax.
Subsidiary: is an independent legal form, which operates according to French laws (EURL – one-person limited liability company, SARL – limited liability company and SA – joint stock company).
